A hand-painted Castelli majolica jar for the pharmacy. Blue heraldic decoration — a winged figure, a cross, scrollwork — frames the word "Anethum" (dill, used in remedies for digestion). The kind of piece that held purpose and looked good doing it.

Made by P. Phaggio, an Italian ceramicist working in the mid-twentieth century. 

Condition: Good. Small chip on lid (as shown in photo).
